Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation - Devising Through Movement: Physical Theatre for Teachers

Please note: This workshop has been moved to Saturday 31 October to avoid school mid-term breaks.

Turn ideas into physical theatre – and develop tools to spark students’ creativity.

Physical theatre uses movement, gesture, space and ensemble work to tell stories beyond words. In this teachers’ workshop, led by Lindsey McAlister, director of HKYAF’s 2026 flagship musical Falling Awake, participants learn practical physical theatre approaches used during the creation of the musical, as well as tips on how to devise original work with students.

If you’d like to explore how simple starting points can generate movement, build meaning and develop into compelling performance, come along ready to move, experiment and create! You will leave with practical techniques you can take back to the classroom.
